Why We Love Corozo Buttons
Small details matter. On select Lacson Ravello button-front styles, we use corozo buttons—a plant-based button material made from tagua nut, a hard seed sometimes called vegetable ivory for its smooth feel and natural variation.
Corozo can be carved, dyed, and polished into buttons with a refined finish, which makes it a beautiful choice for easy shirts, dresses, and everyday wardrobe staples. We choose it when it makes sense for the design: polished, durable, and quietly distinctive.
A few reasons we like corozo:
- Plant-based material - Corozo is made from tagua nut, a hard plant seed with natural variation.
- Polished finish - It has a smooth, refined look that works well on button-front styles.
- Durable feel - Corozo is chosen for select garments designed for repeat wear.
- A considered trim choice - It gives us a non-plastic button option where it makes sense for the garment.
Corozo buttons are one trim detail—not a claim that the full garment is biodegradable, compostable, plastic-free, or sustainable across every attribute. Garments may include other fibers, thread, labels, and trims, and disposal outcomes depend on conditions.
Lacson Ravello own-label pieces are designed, cut, and sewn in small batches in Oakland with local production partners. Fabric and trim sourcing varies by style and may include imported materials. Please see individual product pages and care labels for exact details.
We’re still a little nuts about corozo. But mostly, we love what it represents: small choices, thoughtful details, and clothes made with intention.
